How to Use the Time Percentage Change Calculator

This tool is very easy to use. You just need to enter the old time (previous) and new time (recent) on their respective input fields. Click the Submit or press the Enter key and be done with it.

This tool provides an accurate and fast computation. For example, dealing with productivity increase from 3 hours and 17 minutes down to 1 hour and 53 minutes could be a little complex for people like me. But with this calculator, it will be a breeze. So, here's how to use this tool:

  1. Step 1

    First, check on the ⚙️ Display Settings to know your options. You'll have the choice to include or exclude hours, minutes, seconds and/or milliseconds in your calculation. It is toggled with the actual input button so clicking it will make the respective input field appear or disappear. Everything is displayed by default. Take your time checking this feature.

  2. Step 2

    Then, enter the Old Time on its labeled row. It is the first set of input fields (Hours, Minutes, Seconds, Milliseconds) in the calculator. The old time represents the previous time or the time you do it for the very first instance.

    For this to be a lot easier, let's do an example. Let's assume we have spent 2 hours and 35 minutes fertilizing the our 2-hectare rice field as a beginner. Let's input these values on the Old Time.

  3. Step 3

    Next, let's continue by entering the New Time. It represents the latest time duration you have spent on the same task or activity.

    On step 2, we have entered 2 hours and 35 minutes on fertilization task. However, we have improved this time, not it took us 1 hour and 17 minutes to complete the same task.

  4. Step 4

    Finally, click on the Calculate button to get the result with is displayed at the bottom part of the tool labeled with ✍ Result.

    As a result of our example, the time percentage change would be -50.32%. Which means we've done the task a lot faster around half of the time before.

Let's you show and hide time units with their respective input display. Unchecking Milliseconds would hide milliseconds time input fields.

📑 Old Time

The first set of inputs formatted in hours, minutes, seconds and milliseconds where you need to enter the previous time. This serves as the first-time duration when you finished a task.

📑 New Time

The second set of time input fields which you need to enter the recent time. This represents the second time duration when you finished the same task.

📑 Result

Shows the time percentage change result based on the old time compared against the new time.

📨 Calculate and Clear

The trigger of the process is the Calculate button. Once clicked, it will run the computation. Also, by clicking on Clear button, it will trigger a reset of all time input fields in the calculator.

Time Percentage Change Formula

To get the time percentage change, we just need to subtract (➖) new time with old time, divide (➗) the result by the old time. Then, multiply (✖️) it by 100 to get the percentage.
